What does the MOT look at on the inside of a motorhome?

We have more than 35 years of experience, serving the community to the best of our ability. We have no intention of stopping any time soon.

The time for your motorhome’s next MOT check could be fast approaching. If it is, then a good idea would be to learn about what the test involves. With this information, it will be easier for your vehicle to pass on the first attempt. The outside of the motorhome is important but you shouldn’t forget about the inside.

Checking vital parts of the interior

On the inside, the MOT test covers every seatbelt, including child restraints/seats, and the door latch. This inspection is a visual one for faults on stitching that is fraying or showing signs of repair, and webbing. It also looks for anchorage points and buckles, and cuts or deterioration.

For those seatbelts that join to your seats, damage or cracks on the seat frame would be a cause for failure. The driver’s seat has to be adjustable and secure. The seatbelt load limiters and pretensioners, and the airbags will all also be inspected.

Views and chips

Another issue that you can’t have is an obstruction of the view through the windscreen. If the windscreen has chips or cracks, you will have to take care of them quickly. In many instances, your insurance will cover the repairs.

Refusal to test

Something else you should know is that grounds for not testing a vehicle exist as well. One of the primary reasons would be that it simply is not fit to drive. A lack of oil or fuel would be another. Your motorhome could also be emitting a huge amount of smoke.

At C&N Car Services, we work to bring you first-rate results. We are aware that motorhome MOT testing demands change as time goes on. Thankfully, we work alongside the DVLA on those updates. As a result we know about the latest testing requirements, definitions, and more.
