Why getting your car serviced is so important

Regularly servicing your car is valuable. It can make the difference between it running smoothly and fuel efficiently, and it breaking down. This will incur an expensive and unexpected repair as a result. It can be a false economy to avoid regular services. That is to say, expected wear and tear requiring minor maintenance can fast become a costly major repair or replacement. The service schedule for your vehicle will depend on the manufacturer and also depend on the car’s mileage and age.

We have defined an Interim Service as having 35 main action points. This includes four changes and four top-ups.
For example, the changes include engine oil, oil filter and wheel nut torque. This depends on the vehicle’s mileage and manufacturer specification.
The garage will also check and change the tyre pressure and top up fluids. These will include clutch fluid, power steering reservoir, brake fluid level, and the windscreen washer. This is only if your vehicle needs it.
Keeping You Informed
The garage will also perform checks on other parts of the vehicle. If these parts need changing, they will communicate this with you in advance of carrying out the work. This is to make sure you are aware of what additional work is required and whether any further costs may be incurred.
We have defined a Full Service as having 61 main action points. These will include all the points in an Interim Service as well as some additional checks, top-ups, and changes. This includes the air filter which needs replacing based on the mileage and vehicle usage. In addition, we will check and top-up your coolant or antifreeze strength and the gearbox fluid. Other examples are the clutch fluid, axle and/or transaxle oil in addition to non-sealed battery units.
We undertake all of these tops-ups where applicable for your specific vehicle. It also depends on the manufacturer guidelines. The garage is also required to check spark plugs during a Full Service. That is to say, we change them based on the mileage and manufacturer specification.
The garage will also perform overall health checks on your vehicle. If there is other work that needs attention, for instance other parts that need changing, they will communicate this with you in advance. The purpose of this is to make sure you are aware of any additional work required and whether any further costs may be incurred.
